Learn to monitor your investments like an expert with Urbanitae Academy

Last Updated on 30 March 2026 by Equipo Urbanitae

At Urbanitae, we believe that investing better is not only about choosing a project and joining it. It is also about following it properly afterwards. Because once the investment has been made, an equally important phase begins: understanding how the project is evolving, which milestones are marking its progress, and which signals are worth interpreting carefully.

With that in mind, we have launched a new Urbanitae Academy module designed to help you monitor your investments with a more professional perspective. This is not about managing the project yourself, but about learning to read its evolution with better judgement, more context and a clearer understanding of what happens between fundraising and exit.

Investment monitoring with Urbanitae Academy

A real estate investment is not a static snapshot, but rather a process. From the moment a project is funded until divestment (the exit), it goes through different phases, faces key milestones and may experience adjustments in timing, costs or commercialisation.

That is why, in this new Academy module, we teach investors to look at an investment beyond the initial moment. The goal is for investors to understand what is happening at each stage, how an update should be interpreted and why not all changes have the same impact.

What you will learn in this new module

The module is designed to provide a practical view of how to monitor a real estate investment. Throughout the content, we explain how the life cycle of a project is structured after investing and which elements are truly important to track.

Among other things, the module helps explain:

  • Which are the usual phases an investment goes through after closing
  • Which milestones genuinely mark the project’s progress
  • How to interpret a periodic update
  • What rights the investor has during the life of the investment
  • How to analyse deviations in timing, costs or income
  • What differences exist between a normal issue in the process and a relevant warning sign

In other words, our aim is for investors to be able to follow the evolution of their investment with a logic closer to that of a professional.

From land to exit: understanding the full cycle

One of the core elements of the module is learning to identify the different phases of a project and understand what each one means. Because not all progress is equally visible, and not every period with fewer updates implies a lack of progress.

In the module, we explain how a project can move through key moments such as control of the asset – usually ownership of the land – obtaining permits, closing financing, construction progress, commercialisation or exit. We also show that each of these stages reduces certain risks and brings the investment closer to its objective.

This approach helps place each update in better context and understand that, in real estate, actual progress does not always coincide with the most eye-catching developments.

Passive investor, not uninformed

Another of the module’s central messages is that investing passively does not mean disengaging. At Urbanitae, the investor does not manage the project directly, but can and should understand how it is evolving.

That is why we devote part of the content to explaining the investor’s role once capital has been committed, what information they receive, how it should be interpreted, and what can be expected in terms of monitoring and transparency.

The idea is simple: although execution remains in the hands of the manager and specialised teams, the investor can still develop a much stronger analytical capacity.

And what about deviations?

In any real estate project, adjustments may arise. Administrative delays, changes to the schedule, cost increases or sales rates that differ from expectations are all part of the reality of the sector.

In this new module, we explain how to analyse this kind of deviation without falling into either alarmism or complacency. Not all deviations have the same impact, not all have the same origin, and not all affect expected returns in the same way.

Understanding this is essential to monitoring your investments like an expert: knowing what has changed, why it has changed, and what consequences it may actually have.

Academy continues to grow to help you invest better

With this launch, Urbanitae Academy takes another step forward in its commitment to financial education applied to real estate investment. We want our investors not only to understand theoretical concepts better, but also to see how a real investment behaves once it is under way.

Because investing with sound judgement is not just about making the right choice at the beginning. It is also about knowing how to accompany the investment throughout its entire journey. Try it – it’s free.
