We spoke about this, and much more, with Daniel Barbero from <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanitae.com\/en\/?utm_source=blog_en&amp;utm_medium=organic&amp;utm_campaign=urbanitae_blog_0625&amp;utm_term=urbanitae&amp;utm_content=en_entrevista_daniel_barbero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Urbanitae\u2019s<\/a> Technology team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First of all, what is frontend and backend?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most common distinctions in software development is the separation between frontend and backend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On one hand, frontend refers to the part of the application that users directly interact with. It\u2019s the graphical interface\u2014what you see and interact with on a website or mobile app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the backend is responsible for business logic and data management. It\u2019s what happens behind the scenes, which users can\u2019t interact with directly, but it\u2019s essential for everything to work correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine you\u2019re at a restaurant. The frontend is everything you see and interact with as a customer: the tables, the decor, the menu, the service. Everything that allows you to enjoy the dining experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The backend, meanwhile, would be the kitchen and everything happening behind the doors: chefs cooking, orders being managed, ingredients in the fridge. You don\u2019t see it, but it\u2019s fundamental to your overall experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How did you get into frontend development?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve always been into technology, computers, and especially video games. I initially started studying video game development, but I soon realized what truly fascinated me was programming and software development in general. So I shifted my focus, studied computer engineering, and specialized in frontend development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does your role as a Frontend Architect involve?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Frontend Architect, my job is to define and oversee the architecture of frontend applications, ensuring that they\u2019re scalable, maintainable, and efficient. The applications must align with business goals and user experience standards. To achieve that, I coordinate with other teams like backend, design, and product to ensure smooth integration and an optimal user experience. I\u2019m also responsible for researching and adopting new technologies to improve our tech stack and code quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What technologies do you typically use?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We use a variety of technologies in our frontend stack. Mainly, we work with React to build interactive and dynamic user interfaces. We also use TypeScript to improve code quality and facilitate long-term maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A few years ago, talking about technology and real estate together might have seemed contradictory. After nearly four years at Urbanitae, how do you see it now?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From my point of view, technology has always been a driver of change in all industries, and real estate is no exception. At Urbanitae, we\u2019ve shown that <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.urbanitae.com\/en\/2024\/10\/22\/blockchain-and-real-estate-the-future-of-real-estate-investment\/?utm_source=blog_en&#038;utm_medium=organic&#038;utm_campaign=urbanitae_blog_0625&#038;utm_term=urbanitae&#038;utm_content=en_entrevista_daniel_barbero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">technology can transform<\/a> how people invest in this sector, making it more accessible and transparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digitization has allowed us to offer a robust and reliable platform where users can invest securely and easily. I believe the future of the real estate sector will always be closely tied to technological innovation as a key driver of progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Everyone is talking about AI. How do you use it in your day-to-day work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s true that AI has come a long way in recent years and generated a lot of buzz. In our case, it\u2019s not so much about large predictive models, but rather tools that help us automate processes and improve development efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re also exploring how to use AI to enhance the user experience\u2014for example, with recommendations or automated support. But always with a strong focus on user data security and privacy, which is something we take very seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What do you enjoy most about working at Urbanitae?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I value most about working at Urbanitae is the people and the tangible impact of our work. Being part of this project means contributing to transforming the way people invest in real estate, making it more accessible and transparent. The environment is dynamic, collaborative, and constantly brings new challenges, which encourages learning and professional growth.
